Over the last several months, I have delved much deeper into the songwriters and outlaw country/folk singers that have long been on my radio, but not so much in my Top-Ten playlist. These artists include among many others Steve Earle, Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, Todd Snider, and Warren Zevon. As a result of my new found interest in -- or maybe better said, my awakening to – this incredibly rich area of music, I have begun to intensely study the guitar styles – but more importantly the lyrical styles and nuances employed by some of the greatest folk songwriters the world has ever known. My hope is that some of these styles may bleed into my own songwriting and that I may continue to grow as an acoustic guitar player/songwriter and singer as my music career matures.
Already, my interests have resulted in solo acoustic gigs as well as several acoustic duo and trio gigs involving Jeremy Keyes on Harmonica and JJ White on guitar. This is an area of my music which I hope to greatly expand on over coming months and years – so check back periodically for updates! In the meantime please check out the videos to the right of Jeremy and me performing at an engagement in which we played during the set-break for the nationally touring Red Dirt Revelators at The Armor Inn Tap Room in Hamburg, NY.
